  1. Welcome to ViewIt - one of the best tools for
  2. creating and managing sophisticated Mac windows.
  3.  
  4. The ViewIt demo program, vDemo, contains the ViewIt
  5. documentation plus info about other FaceWare modules.
  6. The "Demo Projects" folders contain several versions of
  7. the vDemo program corresponding to different languages
  8. and compilers.  THINK C (LC), Symantec C++ (SC),
  9. THINK Pascal (LP), Metrowerks C/C++ (MC, MC+),
  10. Metrowerks Pascal (MP), Absoft MacFortran II (AF),
  11. and Language Systems FORTRAN (LF) source files are
  12. provided, but you don't need a compiler to run the
  13. vDemo program, and the THINK files can be converted
  14. for use with MPW (as described in "Compiler Notes").

  16. Choose one of the vDemo programs to work with, and
  17. then take the following steps before running vDemo:

  19. 1. Move the "vDemo.Rsrc" resource file from the folder
  20. "Demo Resources" to the folder containing the vDemo
  21. program you have chosen to run. This resource file has
  22. resources that are required by all versions of vDemo.
  23. (If this file is not found, vDemo quits back to Finder.)
  24.  
  25. 2. Move the "FaceWare" file to your System folder so
  26. that the modules within it can be found by all of
  27. the demo programs that you run.

  29. IMPORTANT NOTE:  The large size of the FaceWare file is
  30. due to the presence of on-line help and editing code that
  31. is NOT needed in finished applications.  Stand-alone
  32. applications created with ViewIt are NOT significantly
  33. larger than applications created with competing tools.

  35. Now run the vDemo program and read the on-line help for
  36. more information about ViewIt and other FaceWare modules.
